Research at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics
The Department has three research groups:
![]() |
In pure mathematics one works with topics including differential geometry, differential equations, number theory and cryptography, algebraic geometry and error-correcting codes. In applied mathematics one works with themes that include optical problems, bioinformatics, fishery research, and stochastics processes with applications to solar wind and interest rate fluctuations. The research of the statistics group includes scale space methods, and applications to climatology and telemedicine and biology. The group cooperates actively with neighbouring institutions, and there are many Ph.D.-students under supervision. |
