Research group in microbiology, molecular and pharmaco-epidemiology
Our research group focuses on understanding the multitude of factors causing and preventing development of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria. We specifically aim to develop productive research approaches at the intersections between antimicrobial consumption and pharmaco-epidemiology, resistance development and resistance gene/genome evolution and molecular epidemiology
We combine the methodological approaches developed in various scientific disciplines and draw on a combination of in-house experimental model systems, analytical chemistry, archived biological samples, mathematical and statistical models, human population studies, and extensive databases on resistance patterns and antimicrobial drug usage. We also work closely with various scientific collaborators.
