| Welcome to the northernmost geological department in the world! |
| Our main activities are research, education and research communication focusing on the Northern region and the Arctic. |
| Research: |
| Activities are concentrated around the research groups: 1) Polar Marine Geology and Geophysics 2) Crustal Dynamics 3) Coastal and Terrestrial Geosciences The department has several research projects funded by The Research Council of Norway, EU and Norwegian oil companies among others. |
| Education: |
| We offer education at bachelor-, master- and PhD level. We educate geologists and geophysicists for the market. Almost 70% of the candidates are employed by the oil industry, the rest work with research, education, public management and the private business sector incidentally. |
