About the unit
The Department of Pharmacy (IFA) is one of eight departments at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The department comprises four research groups; Drug transport and delivery, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry and Microbiology, molecular and pharmaco-epidemiology.
The department was established in 1995 and moved into new premises in 1998.
The Head of Department is Professor Thrina Loennechen.
The department has about 50 staff members in permanent academic, technical and administrative positions.
The Department of Pharmacy is responsible for teaching of the five-year Master's degree programme in Pharmacy, as well as in PhD courses within the field of pharmacy.
The research groups at the Department of Pharmacy are:
- Drug transport and delivery research group
- Forskningsgruppe i farmakologi (Pharmacology Research Group)
- Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry Research Group
- Microbiology, molecular and pharmaco-epidemiology
