About CPS

The Centre for Peace Studies was founded in 2002. It is a teaching and research unit at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education, University of Tromsø. Its main task is to promote nonviolent conflict resolution and the creation of peace. Through an effective organisational structure, consisting of two active boards and a small permanent staff, the Centre has awarded over 89 master's degrees, arranged 12 conferences and made diverse contributions to peace research to date.
