Student Residence Network (SRN)

This service is provided by the Student Welfare Organisation in Tromsø (SiTø) and user support is provided by Orakelet.

There are prerequisites in order to connect to this network:

  1. You are required to have an active user account at UiT or UNIS.
  2. Network cable of the type Patch Cable Cat 5E. If you do not have one it is for sale at the university bookstore Akademisk kvarter.
  3. A network card must be installed and activated on your computer
  4. The Operating system on your computer must support IEEE802.1x.  Wich is a standard for port-based network access control. All new versions of Windows and MacOS support this authentication protocol.
  5. You will have to set up your computer to authenticate on the network, please locate your correct user manual below.
