Type of course
Theoretical subject. The course is available as a singular or elective course independent of study program, also to exchange students and free-movers. The course is offered on condition that a minimum number of students register for the course.
Recommended prerequisites
KJE-1001 Introduction to chemistry and the chemistry of biology
Course contents
Recapitulation of crystal and ligand field theories; metalloenzymes with particular emphasis on heme and nonheme iron enzymes; bioinformatics related to metalloenzymes; metal-DNA/RNA interactions; environmental bioinorganic chemistry.
Language of instruction and examination
The language of instruction is English and all of the syllabus material is in English. Examination questions will be given in English, and may be answered either in English or Norwegian/Scandinavian language.
Teaching methods

Lectures: 20 h

Seminars: 10 h

Exercises: 40 h

Assessment methods

Grades based on a final, oral examination. Lettergrades (A-F).

Coursework requirements

Admission to the examination requires that the student has passed the exercises.
