BIO-3323 Bioinformatics: Genomes and genomics - 10 stp
Course contents
The course is a continuation of BIO-2304, Introduction to Bioinformatics and deals with topics such as genomes and genome structures, genome sequencing, assembly and annotation, evolution, functional genomics and modelling.
Objective of the course
To give the students an introduction to the genomes and genomics of organisms. To develop insight into the use of bioinformatic instruments for assembly and annotation and further insight about tools for functional tasks such as micro-array and modelling. To develop understanding about how bioinformatics can be used as a tool to design experimental experiments and analyse results.
Teaching methods
Approx. 80 hrs of lectures/lab work in the course. The labs and lectures will be given during a two week period. Lab report must be accepted before exam.
Assessment
Project assignment and presentation. Grade type: pass / fail.
Re-sit examination
