Department of Pharmacy

The Department of Pharmacy is responsible for educating pharmacists and engages in research of a high international level in several subject areas.

The Department of Pharmacy offers a university education in pharmacy, the study of pharmaceuticals. The programs comprises a god mix of practical and theoretical subjects. The theoretical component is comprehensive, including subjects such as chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical technology and society and health.

The Department of Pharmacy offers a Bachelor's ( 3-years) and a Master's (2-years) program in Pharmacy. Thirty-five students are admitted annually. Graduates have the right to the title Master of Pharmacy.

The language of instruction is Norwegian.

Research

Parallel with the teaching in pharmacy, the Department of Pharmacy engages in research within the various core pharmaceutical areas. Research is carried out on the synthesis and analysis of medicines and potential medicines, working mechanisms for medicines, formulation of medicines (tablets, solutions etc.), antibiotics and resistance development and the use of medicines in the population, as well as optimisation of clinical medicine therapy. Master's theses are offered within all the fields of research, and these may be carried out internally at the department or during periods of study at our national and international collaboration partners.
