Barbara Stein


Job description

I am associate professor at the Department of Social Education. I did my PhD at the same department and in my project I studied volunteerism's role in the integration processes of adult immigrants. I am affiliated with the Arctic Centre for Welfare and Disability Research (ASVF).

Research interests: Issues related to migration, integration, volunteerism, and gender.

Migration seminar: I lead an informal research network which is open to anyone at UiT who is studying migrationrelated issues. Get in touch for more information or to join.

Supervision: I supervise mainly theses related to questions on migration, integration, volunteerism or gender. Currently, I supervise two master theses (Master in Social Innovation and Welfare) and one doctoral project.

Teaching: I teach topics related to the social sciences at the Department of Social Education and its programmes Bachelor in Social Education and Master in Social Innovation and Welfare.

    Teaching

    Barbara Stein teaches on bachelor's, master's and PhD level at the Department of Social Education, primarily within the fields of social anthropology/sociology, migration/minorities, and gender.

    She is currently supervising two master's theses affiliated with the Master in Social Innovation and Welfare (SSO-3911 Masteroppgave velferdsendring).
