Ilona H. Urbarova

Postdoctor

Job description

Ilona H. Urbarova is a postdoctor in molecular biology and bioinformatics at the Faculty of Health Sciences at UiT. Her research is targeted at analyses of omics data in blood samples of lung cancer patients, both at and prior to diagnosis, and how they correlate with changes in immune cells in blood and in tumour. She has a long experience (over 10 years) with analyses of different omics data at genome, transcriptome and proteome level (including epigenomics, miRNA expression and de novo genomics and transcriptomics). She is currently also part of other studies that are looking at inflammatory blood markers and their association with colorectal cancer, periodontitis or human social exposome, or that are studying environmental contaminants in human blood samples. Recently, she got also involved in EU-funded DISCERN project that tries to identify the causes of three poorly understood cancers in Europe – renal, pancreatic, and colorectal cancer.

Ilona H. Urbarova is a postdoctor in Systems Epidemiology group at the Department of Community Medicine (ISM).
