Kristin Andreassen Fenton

Professor

Job description

I am a researcher with a background in biochemistry (MSc) and immunology (PhD) that focuses on determining the mechanisms that lead to the development of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and specifically lupus nephritis (LN). The main goal is to develop new detection method for early diagnosis and new treatment strategies to prevent the development of LN.

We use advanced molecular experiments using animal, translational, and clinical studies to answer our research questions.

I teach immunology and autoimmunity to BSc and MSs in biomedicine students in addition to medical students.

I am also the deputy head of education at the institute of medical biology where I am responsible for all the teachers and teaching given by IMB.

Research key words: Autoimmunity, systemic lupus erythematosus, lupus nephritis, tertiary lymphoid structures, immune cells, autoantibodies, anti-dsDNA ab, immune complexes,

    Research interests

My main goal is to develop new diagnostic markers and tools for early detection of lupus nephritis in SLE patents. To do this we investigate the development of SLE in different mouse models of LN both inducible and spontaneous.
