Filip Maric


Associate Professor

Job description

Filip Maric (PhD) is an Associate Professor in physiotherapy at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. His research interests and activities span the fields of critical physiotherapy, healthcare ethics, planetary health, sustainable healthcare, environmental physiotherapy and related approaches, as well as the environmental post/humanities.

Filip is the founder and executive chair of the Environmental Physiotherapy Association (EPA) and project lead of the EPT Agenda 2023 – an international project aiming at the integration of environmental and sustainability perspectives into physiotherapy education. Other activities include convening the German-speaking section of the Critical Physiotherapy Network and the UiT Environmental Humanities network, as well as sea kayaking, hiking and ski touring.

Filip is also a member of the UiT Sustainability ThinkTank led by Vice-Rector Rikke Gürgens Gjærum and represents the UiT Faculty of Health Sciences in a Norwegian national collaboration focussed on the implementation of sustainability education into all Norwegian medical, health and care education, led by the UiO SHE Center for Sustainable Healthcare Education.

    Filip Maric (PhD) teaches around the following topics in the UiT Bachelor programme in physiotherapy:

    In addition to his teaching in the Bachelor program in physiotherapy, Filip also teaches in different courses across several faculties at UiT: 

    Filip Maric is also the project lead of the Environmental Physiotherapy Content Development Project on Physiopedia, the largest available free-access and continually updated physiotherapy knowledge resource used by people in every corner of the world. He is also the coordinator of the Environmental Physiotherapy Programme on Physioplus, the continuous professional development platform of Physiopedia.
