PhD Student

Job description

I am a PhD student at the Department of Archaeology, History, Religious Studies and Theology (AHR) and at the University Library. In my PhD project I am investigating the collection of historical maps in the University Library. I understand the historical maps from the 16th century as an important source material for the construction of a specific spatial idea of "Northern Europe" in the early modern period. Through a detailed analysis of different elements depicted on the maps, such as natural phenomena or economic forms, I want to write a spatial history of Fennoscandia in pre-modern times on a micro level.
