NOR-0014 Norwegian for International Students - Level 2 - 10 ECTS

Type of course

This course is given as a part of campus Alta’s program for exchange students.

It is not possible to attend this course as a private/external candidate.


Objectives of the course

Knowledge:

Students will gain an understanding of normal Norwegian speech and conversations about general topics, and topics related to studies and student life.

Skills:

Students will be able to discuss and converse in Norwegian about the same topics, using vocabulary learned during the course and with good pronunciation.

Within the topics covered, students will be able to read authentic Norwegian texts at a normal level of difficulty, and express themselves in writing.

Students will learn the key parts of Norwegian morphology and syntax.

The candidate’s skills is equivalent to Level B1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

General competence:

Students should have acquired an active vocabulary of ca.1500 words and an even greater passive vocabulary.

They should be able to recognize words and phrases that they have seen or heard before, and partly understand the meaning of a word from their knowledge of Norwegian morphology.

Teaching methods

The Level 2 Course consist of 60 hours of classroom teaching, focusing on practical grammar and exercises, and language practice in small groups (reading, listening, vocabulary practice, writing, and speaking).

 

Students are expected to work independently with the online content of the Norwegian on the Web 2 course.


Assessment

Admission to take the exam requires 4 written assignments, and a minimum of 80% attendance.
