The K.G. Jebsen Centre for the Law of the Sea was established on 1 September 2013 by the Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Foundation and UiT, The Arctic University of Norway and Fridtjof Nansen Institute as a consortium partner. 

The Centre is located at The Faculty of Law, UiT, The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø.

The objective of the centre: To assess how the UNCLOS and other international instruments that are part of the law of the sea, as well as national implementation, are responding to new and existing challenges, and are able to ensure sustainable development and peaceful utilisation of the seas and oceans in the 21st Century.
