Theoretical and practical. The course can be taken as a single course as long as the admission requirement for the Master Program is satisfied.

Course content

The course consists of 5 topics: - Epidemiologic study design - Clinical epidemiology - Data handling - Basic statistics - PC analysis

Objectives of the course

The course will give the students knowledge in medical epidemiology as a research method. The students will be able to: formulate a medical research problem, design a study, explore the problem and apply the appropriate method in order to provide valid answers to the problem formulated.

English.

Teaching methods

The course consists of a combination of lectures, discussions, home work and practical exercises. In addition to physical attendance of lectures and seminars, part of the course is net-based, requiring active participation of students via Class Fronter. All assignments are submitted electronically in Class Fronter.

Assessment

2-weeks' take-home examination based on a specific assignment.
