Course content

The course consist of two main parts: macroeconomics for the long and for the short run, with an emphasis on relevance for small, open economies

Objectives of the course

Students who have successfully completed the course should have achieved the following learning outcomes:

Knowledge and comprehension:

  • macroeconomic growth in open economies
  • labour markets
  • economic fluctuations

Skills:

The course should prepare the student to:

  • work independently on relevant problems and questions
  • apply theoretical concepts and ideas
  • undertake relevant empirical work

Competence:

The student should be able to

  • read, understand and present models and results from research on open economy macroeconomics published in international journals
  • apply theories and principles and independently to develop her/his own competence and expertise in macroeconomics
  • discuss central questions, analyses and conclusions pertaining to the present macroeconomic situation

4 hrs written examination. Grades A-F, F is failure.
