SESAM and RAIPON sign cooperation agreement

On September 11th 2012, the Russian Association of the Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East, Russia (RAIPON) and the Centre for Sami Studies, University of Tromsø has formalized a cooperation agreement.

The Russian Association of the Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East, Russia (RAIPON) and the Centre for Sami Studies, University of Tromsø has formalized a cooperation including spreading knowledge about indigenous research and teaching to a wide audience in Russia and Norway, and to mutually enhance each other’s activities that are related to this. This cooperation could include but not be limited to:

 i) the development of collaborative research and education projects to promote indigenous peoples’ rights and their social, economic and cultural development;

ii) the organization of joint events such as seminars and symposia to discuss different indigenous issues in Norway and Russia,

iii) the exchange of publications and other materials of common interest,

iv) the development of promotional material and mutual information about activities and events through both parties’ networks
