    Research interests

Since I finished my PhD back in 2006, I have been involved in various projects dealing with bioprospecting, structural biology, enzymology, microbiology, bioinformatics & genomics. From 2011 and onwards, I have also explored the marine wood-boring bivalves on our coast, and have recently established a research project dealing with these interesting animals and their enzyme-secreting bacterial symbionts.

    Research projects

    • MetaMine (2018-2021) Mining the microbiomes from marine wood-digesting bivalves for novel lignocellulose depolymerizing enzymes. (Project leader).
    • MarPlast (2017-2020) Marine microorganisms for bioplastics production. (WP-leader).
    • SiaCat (2016-2019) An efficient biocatalyst for the production of sialic acids- sugars for health. (WP-leader).
