Title: " Redesigning the Internet?
Lecturer: Dr. / MBG CTO Sape Mullender, Cisco Systems

Abstract
The Internet is modelled after the telephone system. You call from one number (IP address) to another. That doesn't make much sense anymore, not even for phones (with three numbers: home, work and cell; which one to call?). For the Internet that makes hardly any sense at all. You care about what you want to get/do, not where it comes from.

Information-Centric Networking is a compelling new paradigm for information retrieval in the Internet. An Interest for the name of the information (Content) sought is routed towards possible locations of that Content and it is returned from where it is first encountered. A digital signature guarantees the integrity of the data.

But do such solutions work? I've been looking at the practicalities of routing on names, on ICN protocols, on the security of the Internet today and ICN networks as envisaged and Ill try to convince you that neither today's TCP/IP and HTTPS is the answer, nor CCNx or NDN.

I'll present what I believe are some of the ingredients for a better, more secure, more content-aware Internet.
