Course content
The Phd course in Marine bioprospecting and bioactive compounds for health is multidisciplinary. It will be a mixture of lectures, practical sessions and seminars with discussions.
The themes will spend from biological resources in the ocean to characteristics of bioactive molecules with marine origin. Different methods used will be presented and discussed and there will be several sessions focusing on characterization methods. There will be practical sessions and hands on experience on different bioassay techniques and analyzing of data from high throughput screening results. It will be focus on processes of lead - development and used examples from peptides with bioactivity for health.
Teaching methods
- The course will be held in Week 21, from May 23 - 27, 2016.
- Some of the lectures will be held online.
- Lecturers will be Professor Klara Stensvåg, Professor Marcel Jaspars, University of Aberdeen, UK, Associate professor Bengt Erik Haug, University of Bergen, Professor Jeanette Hammer Andersen, Marbio, Uit and Associate professor Tor Haug, UiT.
There will be a mixture of lectures and hands on practical activities at different bioprospecting facilities and seminars.
