Title: " Imaging Data Management System "
Lecturer: Professor Brian Vinter, Head of HPC, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Abstract
While Moores law is most commonly associated with increased computing power, as a result of cramming more transistors into the same space, an equivalent result is found in CCD cameras. The fact that camera resolution growns with Moores law, combined with other advances in physics in the generation and control of X-rays means that X-ray imaging is now a major source of data generation, a trend that will continue in the foreseeable future. One consequence of this data growth is that image based data no longer can be managed ad hoc, but scalable storage systems with flexible access control and support for data processing must also be supported.

This talk introduces the Imaging Data Management System, IDMS, an open source solution for complete image data management. The talk will both demonstrate the challenges and show the solution to some of the challenges that had to be solved to build a system such as IDMS.
