How to share research data

There are many good reasons for sharing research data that are not subject to ethical, legal, or security restrictions. Sharing allows other researchers to reproduce our research, it might lead to more citations, and it can open for new collaborations. In addition, the requirement on sharing open research data becomes more and more widespread among scientific journals, organisations, and funders. From September 2017, this requirement also applies to employees at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, see Principles and guidelines for research data management at UiT.

In this course, we discuss the advantages of sharing open research data and how we go about selecting a suitable archive. We also provide a brief introduction to UiT Open Research Data, UiT’s institutional archive for open research data.

For more information about research data management at UiT, see the UiT Research Data Portal.
