Philosophy of education

Philosophy of education (in Norwegian: pedagogisk filosofi) has long traditions within the subject of education, and concerns fundamental issues of the theory and practice of pedagogy.

The research group aims, firstly, to contribute to the national and international bodies of research within philosophy of education, with particular emphasis on developing a philosophy of education that is of social and societal relevance. Secondly, the group aims to intensify research at the Department of Education into the fundamental problems of pedagogy, even across its disciplines and professions.

Being interdisciplinary, the group consists of professors of education and philosophy, as well as professors who are teacher educators and preschool teacher educators. The group's research is closely related to the content of the educational offerings in philosophy of education at the department.

The research group is led by associate professor Jens Breivik
