Objectives of the course
Knowledge
The candidate has:
- Knowledge of adventure tourism in the local Arctic context and nature guides¿ role and practices within this field.
- Knowledge of the Norwegian history and tradition of "friluftsliv".
- Knowledge of sustainable tour planning in the Arctic nature
- Knowledge of experience production in the Arctic.
- Knowledge of risk management in the Arctic nature.
Skills
The candidate is able to:
- Plan, organize and conduct outdoor adventure tours in the Arctic nature.
- Make assessments on the risk-, safety- and environmental elements of Arctic outdoor activities.
- Make assessments on how experiences in this natural environment can be controlled and designed.
Competence
The candidate is able to:
- Understand and analyse the role and importance of experiences in nature-based tourism.
- Evaluate, analyse and advice businesses and the industry
- Carry out product developments and innovations.
Assessment
Assignments:
- Practical assignment: tour planning and - implementation.
- Oral presentations
- Written assignments
- 70% attendance.
Required attendance and assignments must be approved in order to take the exam.
Exam:
- Individual written home exam. Duration: 5 days.
- Grading: A-F. E is the lowest passing grade. F is failure. Possibility of resit exam in case of an F.
