European Science Diplomacy Online Course Available

The course is free of charge and available to anyone with an interest in Science Diplomacy, including diplomats, funding managers, EU civil servants, representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS), policy officers, national civil servants in ministries and agencies, coordinators of Horizon 2020 projects, scientists at universities and enterprises, etc.

The course offers eight modules, six of which (2-7) include the learning content focused on European Science Diplomacy:

  • Module 1: How to Get Started?
  • Module 2: What Is Science Diplomacy?
  • Module 3: Who Are the Science Diplomacy Stakeholders?
  • Module 4: How Does the European Union Practice Science Diplomacy?
  • Module 5: What National, Regional, and Thematic Approaches of Science Diplomacy Exist?
  • Module 6: What Set of Skills Do I Need to Be a Good Science Diplomat?
  • Module 7: Hands on! Case Studies.
  • Module 8: How Can You Dive Deeper into the Topic? 

The entire course takes approximately 15 hours and the online platform saves progress automatically, so it is possible to complete the course in stages, with a certificate awarded upon successful completion.

The course is very popular and attracted more than 3000 participants in just over three weeks from its official launch. More than 300 participants have successfully completed it and received the certificate.
