PhD student

Job description

My current research employs a chemoproteomic approach known as activity-based protein profiling (ABPP) to identify and validate druggable enzymes relevant to bacterial survival and pathogenesis. Additionally, I use protein biochemistry, various in vitro assays, human-derived gut organoid models, Galleria infection model, and microscopy to explore the functional roles of these enzymes in diverse biological contexts.

    Research interests

    Research interests

    My previous work

I worked on the 'Phage Therapy Project,' where we utilized phages, phage-antibiotic combinations, and phage products to develop more effective phage-based therapies for controlling multidrug-resistant pathogens such as Salmonella Typhimurium, Klebsiella pneumoniae , and Staphylococcus aureus . And, wrote my master's thesis entitled 'Characterization of Virulent Bacteriophages to Control Multidrug-Resistant Salmonella Typhimurium.

    Current work

My current research focuses on employing a chemoproteomic approach called activity-based protein profiling (ABPP) and microbiological techniques to study bacterial pathogens. We use functionalized covalent enzyme inhibitors, tagged with biotin or click-chemistry handles, to enrich and identify target enzymes relevant to bacterial survival and pathogenesis, and for comparing active proteomes under various biological conditions. For functional validation of these druggable enzymes, we utilize protein biochemistry, bacterial mutant/reporter strains, and chemical probes in different in vitro assays, human-derived gut organoid models, the Galleria infection model, and in vivo animal assays .
