FNs Generalforsamling 2020: side-arrangement om akademisk frihet

Webinar: FNs spesialrapportør for ytringsfrihet presenterer rapport

The UN Special Rapporteur for the protection and promotion of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, Irene Khan, invites to a UN-event on the following subjects:

  • academic freedom
  • its connection to freedom of opinion and expression
  • the development of norms and advocacy to protect academic freedom and higher education communities around the globe.

Side-event: Freedom of Opinion and Expression and Academic Freedom

The event follows the Special Rapporteur's publication, earlier this year, of a groundbreaking report on academic freedom, which will be presented before the UN General Assembly.

The side event will discuss how the report’s findings and recommendations can be used to ensure the realization of the freedom of opinion and expression to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers as an integral aspect of academic freedom, and enhance the ability of academics and institutions to contribute to democracy and development around the world.
