UiT Interdisciplinary Human Rights Research Network Meeting

What do we mean by Self-Determination?

Interdisciplinary understandings of a central Human Rights concept

The UiT Interdisciplinary Human Rights Research Network welcomes you to a mini-workshop on the topic of self-determination - broadly conceived.  During this seminar, we will learn how different disciplines approach this topic, what the key debates are, and which interests different group members have with regards to this topic. Topics can include individual and collective self-determination, self-determination as a legal/ moral/ psychological concept, facets and preconditions of self-determination - or other angles.

We will start off with some short presentations followed by an open discussion in which we can exchange ideas, ask questions, and introduce topics of interest. If you would like to give a short (5 min) presentation on the topic, please let us know by the end of February (just write a note in the box below, indicating your interest and your field of research). You are free to choose what the presentation focuses on, for example: an overview of what self-determination means in your field, your own research in that field, or questions for discussion would all be good.

If you are planning to attend please register below by March 10.

If you have any questions, please contact: Kerstin Reibold (kerstin.reibold@uit.no) or Jennifer Hays (jennifer.hays@uit.no)

We look forward to an interesting discussion!
