Student activists have been at the helm of social movements around the world throughout history. We are currently seeing that student activism more and more are met with stringent surveillance, vicious policing, criminalisation, and state violence.

At this digital event you will get an insight into this topic by the authors of SAIHs latest report Students by day, rebels by day.

The report authors are Renee Karunungan and Chris Millora.

Karunungan is currently in her second year of PhD at Loughborough University (UK), researching the impacts of social media in politics in the Philippines.

Millora is currently finishing his PhD in education and international development with the UNESCO Chair in Adult Literacy and Learning for Social Transformation at the University of East Anglia (UK).

They are both from The Philippines and both have a background as student activists.

The report authors will discuss their findings in this digital lunch seminar. There will be a Q&A session at the end.
