Nihal Afana (Medkvinner -Tromsø Red Cross)

Medkvinner are woman voluntaries from the immigrant communities who run outreach activities among minority women. Medkvinner aims to prevent social and health challenges in immigrant families in Tromsø. Medkvinner has as its goal to help new immigrants in Tromsø, so that they are more easily integrated into Norwegian society

Marcela Douglas (Center for Peace Studies, UiT)

PIRM: Parental guidance has already proven to be an effective tool for helping Norwegian parents to develop good parenting skills. Researchers in PIRM will now investigate the effect of parental guidance for families with a refugee background.

Abdalla Ali Mohammed (Tromsø Integration Comitee)

Abdalla Ali Mohammed is a leader of Tromsø integration committee. The committee will work to make Tromsø an open, tolerant, and inclusive society. It acts as an advisory body for the municipality within the integration of refugees and immigrants.

Nasra Ali Omar (Tvibit)

Nasra Ali Omar is a project leader at Tvibit. She is an artist/musician and is most experienced in working with integrating migrants with the aim to achieve a more diverse cultural scene and practises in local communities. She is a project leader of Trap Tromsø and Flere Farger.

Tvibit is a cultural and creative hub, production centre, competence centre, meeting place and café. Its goal is to help people develop their creative talents and ideas.

TrAP Tromsø is trying to figure out what citizens of Tromsø have in common in spite of different backgrounds.

Flere Farger is a project where the goal is to cultivate a stronger cultural diversity in the city, and that all cultures that live here should be visible. Children and the youth with roots from different parts of the world participate in weekly meetings where they learn dance, music and stories.

Rita Sørly (UiT, HelseIntro)

HelseIntro - an interdisciplinary collaborative project on the Introduction Program for refugees. In the NFR project HelseIntro, researchers, employees in the northern Norwegian municipalities of Harstad, Senja, Sør-Varanger and refugees work together to understand why refugees with health challenges often have challenges in completing the introductory program. The project aims to find solutions to the challenges that refugees may have.
