Topic: Cyber Physical Systems and its application to medical systems
Date & time: June 8th, 2022 (Wednesday) , 12:00 - 13:00
Location: Realfagsbygget A010
Remote access: Teams invite will be sent out later

Professional contact person is Professor Keiichi Sato.

Her research areas are concurrent/embedded computing, CPS and CPS application to medical systems. She has been active in CPS research from its beginning in the US and one of founding members of the international conference on CPS. She will be talking about her ARC (actor, role and coordinator) model that represents coordination across heterogeneous elements in human and technical systems. Some example CPS applications to medical systems will also be presented. I rediscovered her work very interesting and effective when I started looking into roles of individual actors' "role" in human system integration problems, in such systems as healthcare systems with many different human agents and technical subsystems. I thought some of you share a common interest with her work.

Bio
Dr. Shangping Ren is a Full Professor and Chair at the Department of Computer Science, San Diego State University. She obtained her Ph.D in CS from UIUC in 1997. Before she joined IIT in 2003, she worked as a software engineer in industry for over five years. Her main research interest is in the areas of cyber-physical systems, real-time scheduling and cloud computing with focus on safety improvement of medical cyber-physical systems, software architecture and development, system reliability analysis under resource constraints, scheduling algorithm design for meeting reliability and deadline requirements, and resource optimization under cloud environment. She is one of the organizers for the first and second international workshop on Cyber-Physical Systems. The workshop now becomes the international conference on CPS. Her research is funded by NSF, Air Force Research Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.
