24.10.2020: Student at UiT has tested positive for COVID-19
On Friday 23 October, Tromsø Municipality announced three new cases of COVID-19. One of these is a prac teacher student at UiT.
The student who is infected is in isolation. The 17 fellow students who have been studying with the infected person in recent days will be contacted by the municipality's infection tracking team. The classroom they have used is closed and will be washed before it's put back in use.
After consultation with the infection control authorities, lectures and other activities at UiT will continue as planned.
– Infection rates are increasing in several places in the country and UiT has increased preparedness since this can also affect our business. We have encouraged our students and staff to pay special attention to the infection situation and are ready to implement new measures if the situation requires it, says University Director Jørgen Fossland.
