17.10.2020: Student at UiT in Tromsø has tested positive for COVID-19
The student who has been confirmed infected has had lectures at the campus in Tromsø.
On Saturday October 17th, UiT was contacted by the infection tracking team in Tromsø municipality to assist in identifying people with whom the student has been in close contact at the university. This case is the same as the municipality published in a press release earlier the same day.
The student in question is in isolation. 14 fellow students who in recent days had group lectures in Ex.phil with the infected person will be contacted by the infection tracking team. The classroom that the 15 students used is closed and will be washed before it's put back in use.
– UiT is in dialogue with the infection control authorities in the municipality and have followed orders and advice given by the municipality, says assistant director Gøril Heitmann.
After consultation with the infection control authorities, lectures and other activities at UiT will continue as planned.
– At the same time, we remind all of the infection prevention measures that UiT has which are based on the recommendations from the National Institute of Public Health, says Heitmann.
