Ingrid Wiedmann

Postdoktor
Department of Arctic and Marine Biology

Job description:

In my PhD project (defended November 2015) I focussed on the vertical flux of organic carbon and particles (> 50 µm) in Arctic regions (Barents Sea; Adventfjorden, Svalbard). I am especially interested in size spectra of sinking particles and how they change dependent on sampling area, season, stratification as well divers of the size spectra, such as physical factors (e.g., turbulence) and biological factors, such as phytoplankton and zooplankton. In January 2016, I will start a PostDoc in the project ARCEx and continue my research in the field of vertical biomass flux, physical-biological interactions and the pelagic-benthic coupling in the Arctic.

Research interests

  • Vertical carbon flux
  • Sedimentation processes
  • Particle dynamics
  • Thin layers
  • Physical-biological interaction
