CV

Endalew Lijalem Enyew is currently a researcher at the Norwegian Center for the Law of the Sea (NCLOS). He has delivered his PhD thesis on the topic: 'The Rights of Indigenous Peoples to Marine Space and Marine Resources under International Law'. His PhD thesis explored the interaction between international law of the sea and human rights law pertaining to the rights of indigenous peoples to marine space and marine resources. He received his LLB from the University of Hawassa - Faculty of Law (Ethiopia, 2009), an LLM in Business Law from Addis Ababa University School of Law (Ethiopia, 2011), and an MPhil in Peace and Conflict Transformation at the Center for Peace Studies of the University of Tromso (Norway, 2013).He also took one year courses in indigenous studies at the Center for Sami Studies of the University of Tromsø (August 2013- May 2014), and received a diploma in law of the sea from the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law and Policy (July 2015). Endalew has been teaching LLM courses: Indigenous Peoples and the Law of the Sea (JUR-3053), and Indigenous Peoples' Rights (JUR-3605) at UiT-The Arctic University of Norway, Faculty of Law (Spring 2015-Spring 2018) . He has also been teaching various law courses at Addis Ababa University School of Law (January-July 2011), Bahir Dar University Distance Education Center (September 2009-July 2011), and Alpha University College (October 2009-July 2011). His ongoing research focuses on theorizing international law, particularly on the application of third world approaches to international law (TWAIL) in the context of the law of the sea.

Endalew's research interest mainly relates to indigenous peoples' law focusing on international human rights law, the law of the sea, peace and conflict studies, restorative justice, and the Ethiopian company and competition law. His publications in these fields appear, inter alia, in Hart Publishing, Arctic Review on Law and Politics, Bergen Journal of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, African Journal of Conflict Resolution, LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing, Mizan Law Review, Addis Ababa Students Law Review . He presented his research at various national, Nordic, and international conferences on different occasions. See the attached CV for complete overview.
