Research projects

Justin Parks is Associate Professor of American Literature and Culture at UiT and the current coordinator of the Border Poetics/Border Cuture research group. He has published on modern and contemporary poetry and American cultural studies. His current monograph, provisionally titled "American Grains: Modern Poetry and Cultural Nationalism between the World Wars," investigates poetry’s role, alongside the social sciences, cultural criticism, and documentary, in exploring and problematizing definitions of "culture," a key concept of the interwar period. He is also currently beginning work on a second project that examines literary modernism in the United States through concepts derived from spatial theory and the environmental humanities.
