About 2000 tapes, mainly original recordings but some are copied from other archives. All tapes are in climat-regulated storage.

About 40.000 pages. There are handwritten songbooks and music sheets, questionnaires, background information, written interviews etc.

A few instruments are included.
As early as 1799 two Sami yoiksongs were written down by an Italian traveller, Giuseppe Acerbi. These melodies are amongst the oldest documented from Northern Norway. |
Acerbi (1799) also documented some dance melodies from Alta, among them a “Halling” (an old Norwegian dance). |
