Outlook Web App (OWA)

Outlook Web App, or OWA for short, is a browser-based client providing you with the majority of the functions offered by Outlook 2013. This includes e-mail, calendar and contacts. As OWA is a browser-based client, you can access it from most any computer connected to the internet.

Accessing Outlook Web App

In order to log in to OWA, you need an IT-user account at UiT. If you have an account, you may log in at https://outlook.office.com

NB! remember that your user name is folowed by @uit.no (ie: abc123@uit.no) when you enter your credentials

Getting started with Outlook Web App

OWA does not require the installation of any software. All you need is a browser, such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari. You will need an internet connection, however, as no data is stored locally on the computer.

User guides

General use

  • Introduction: This shows you how to log in and perform common tasks such as sending e-mail. It also explains the basic functions of the calendar and your contacts.

  • Out-of-Office messages: If you set yourself as "away" using your calendar, others will be notified of your absence if they check your calendar. You may also set up an Out-of-Office message as an automatic reply to any e-mails. Please note that this function only applies to UiT e-mail users, and not external users.
  • Adding shared mailboxes:  Shared mailboxes are e-mail accounts tied to a unit or a group rather than a single person.
  • Automatic e-mail sorting: This guide shows you how to make OWA to automatically sort incoming e-mail. This is useful if you have certain services or people whose e-mails you want to sort into specific folders.

  • Calendar sharing: You may share your calendar with other employees or students at UiT.
