Meet Dorian Vodopia, currently working on his PhD at UiT Norges arktiske universitet. His research focuses on the inclusion of ghost fishing in life cycle impact assessment (LCIA) and its effects on ecosystems and biodiversity. The aim is to mitigate its impact through evidence-based conservation measures and collaboration with local stakeholders. Dorian was born in Rijeka, Croatia. He holds a bachelor's degree in marine sciences from Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, and a master's degree in nature conservation from Univerza na Primorskem / University of Primorska, Koper, Slovenia. Previously he has worked as a project associate at the Laboratory for Marine Nanotechnology and Biotechnology (LMNB), Centre for Marine Research in Rovinj, Croatia. Beyond academia, Dorian is fond of nature, and he finds solace and joy in scaling challenging peaks and exploring the depths of the sea, embodying John Muir's words: "And into the woods I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.
