Populærvitenskapelig sammendrag av avhandlingen

With the development of geometric modeling and constructions, as well as various forms of sensor technology, new opportunities for applications and tools for pre- and post-processing are emerging. For technical problems and designs, such tools include the development of models for further analysis in simulation and visualization frameworks. The development of applications and tools for such frameworks provides motivation to explore unique combinations of both constructions and technology in the context of applied mathematics. Such tools are often needed to provide decision support and understanding of complex issues.

This dissertation consists of a collection of methods and tools for modeling, simulation, visualization and sensor technology and data processing. Such tools include constructions, physical problems, and terrain generation and sensor technology applications for assessment and providing new layers of information when processing data captured using sensors.
