Indigenous Peoples, extractive industries, state interactions - TriArc & IndKnow research seminar

The Centre for Sami Studies, UiT The Arctic University of Norway invites to a two-days online research seminar on the topic Indigenous peoples’ rights and extractive industries.

At the seminar both guest scholars and researchers affiliated to the two research projects – TriArc and IndKnow, present research and analysis on conflicts between extractive industries and development projects versus traditional indigenous livelihoods.

In TriArc different types of governance arrangements regulating these interactions are emphasized. IndKnow focuses on how indigenous knowledge systems are included in planning processes and impact assessments.

Join and get updates on and preliminary analysis of ongoing conflicts, including the Nasa mountain case on the border between Norway and Sweden. Detailed program will soon be announced.
