Message to our international students from the municipality authorities:

New and stricter measures for the Municipality of Alta are as follows:

  • Organizing or participating in private gatherings with more than 10 people from separate households is banned. This includes events in both private and public places.

Exception: Funerals are to follow the national guidelines, which allows for up to 20 people.

The ban dictates that both organizing and participating in these kinds of gatherings violates the Act relating to control of communicable diseases, and therefore punishable.

The regulation also entails limitations on numbers regarding private gatherings arranged in public places.

Private gatherings are here understood as gatherings for family, friends, and acquaintances, and social events related to work or school.

Public places are here understood as premises and outdoor areas that are rented or borrowed, including hotels, clubhouses, assemblies, conference arenas, and halls.

Those organizing gatherings are also responsible for informing the participants that sick people should not participate (this also applies to mild symptoms), ensure people can uphold good hand hygiene and that those who participate keep a distance of at least 1 meter to others who are not in the same household. Furthermore, the organizer must keep records of who is present and be able to assist the municipality's infection detection team when needed.

The regulation was adopted by the Municipal Executive Board today and will be in effect for the next two weeks as of 2 p.m. today.
