All plants and flowers has a story to tell. What is behind their looks, fragrance and distribution? What we percieve as sheer beauty, is often serving very specific purposes for the plant. Even flowerless plants have secrets to reveal, perhaps of how they have survived on this planet for milions of years.

To let you explore the amazing abilities and fascinating features of some Arctic and Alpine species, we present a brand new book by prof. Arve Elvebakk, head of the Botanic garden. This book in a handy format covers 36 different plant species, each and all with a story to tell.

Plenty of photographs ensures you can enjoy the plants at their best, even if they might not be flowering when you visit. Discover e.g. the Norwegian national plant, the rarest buttercup, the oldest plants and the most advanced flowers on Earth, as well as the Viking king's favourite plant - they are all in our Garden.

This book is available from the Botanic garden shop and from the shop at Tromsø Museum. The price is NOK 80.
