Open Access Publishing: How to cover the costs

There are two ways for UiT to cover the costs of publishing Open Access.

1. Through OA deals with academic publishers

The publishing costs are automatically covered for all journals in this list through UiT's Open Access deals with several academic publishers.

  • The corresponding author must be affiliated with UiT
  • Register UiT The Arctic University of Norway as your affiliation during submission and/or when signing a publication agreement (can be referred to as "License Agreement", "Publishing Agreement", "publishing contract")

If these requirements are met, the publisher will offer the opportunity to publish open access at no charge to the author.

Note that the journal has to be registered in the NSD register for you to earn publication points.

2. Through UiT publication fund

For Open Access journals that are not part of a publisher deal, send an application to the UiT publication fund

  • Find the journal in the NSD register and Directory of Open Access Journals.
  • The corresponding author must be affiliated with UiT
  • The full text of the article has to be uploaded into CRIStin no later than the time of publishing.
  • You have to apply for funding before you send the manuscript to a journal for review.
