autumn 2009 BED-3021 Economics with Mathematics - 10 ECTS

The first part of the course includes the necessary mathematical tools for the MSc NOMA-FAME, specifically linear algebra and static optimisation. The second part of the course deals with in particular microeconomic theory and applications. This elaborates on the theory and examples taught in lower degree courses, but also extend into new cases. An in-depth look is taken at consumer and firm behaviour, the theory of markets, economics of strategy, industrial organisation and theory of regulation.
The aim of the course is to make the students familiar with advanced microeconomic analysis and the necessary mathematical foundation needed for such analysis.

Hours of lecture: 20 to 40 hours
Seminars: 12 to 40 hours
Colloquia: 16 to 40
Exam form: 4 hours written exam.
Evaluation: A-F (where F is fail)
