Course content
The subject of the course is the innovative transformation of knowledge into commercial products and services. Cross-disciplinary teams of students will assess real ideas or products for their commercial potential in terms of licensing and/or for venture development. The students examine concepts associated with commercialization processes from decisions making, through the development of new products, to the formation of entrepreneurial enterprises. In the course are case-studies implemented which will be used as real commercialization experiences from diverse industrial fieldsObjectives of the course
Students who have successfully completed the course should have achieved the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge and comprehension:
- Knowledge of the key concepts and options in commercialization
- Knowledge of how to assess product ideas for their commercialization potential
- Knowledge of the life cycle of a company
Skills:
The course should prepare the student to:
- Make use of team cooperated work to screen and evaluate own created ideas and products/ services and the stages of the commercialization process
- Apply theoretical concepts and ideas to those new areas
- Perform assessment methods of the team commercialization¿s ability to execute strategies and their dependence on person/ tasks matches
Competence:
- The student should be able independently and cooperatively to develop their own competence and expertise in the field of commercialization process
- The students should be able to discuss central questions, analyse and conclude the important steps of the product life cycle, their acceleration and obstacles
- The students are competent in the decision making process by utilizing all depth investigations and financial and human commitments involved in establishing a new venture
