Temporary exhibitionAn outdoor exhibition about the sea and the people of the North. Opens 16 September 2026.
The relationship between the people and the sea is like a complicated love affair between nature, weather, and humans. Generations have fished here. The sea has been a pantry, shaping the traditions, cultures, and identity of the people who live along the coast. Through close interaction with local ecosystems, people have learned to maintain a fragile balance between taking and giving.
This exhibition combines portraits, landscape photographs, interview quotes, and artistic expressions to give a voice to those who live close to the sea. You are invited to read, look, and reflect on the connections between human activity and the state of nature, and to consider solutions that can contribute to a more sustainable coastal environment.

The exhibition will be displayed outdoors at the Arctic University Museum of Norway, Lars Thøringsveg 10, from 16 September to 19 October 2026. You do not need a museum ticket to see it. Please note that, later in the autumn, it may be somewhat dark in the area around the exhibition in the evenings.
