Plan your visit to the Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden offers guided tours. Free guided tours are advertised on the University's website “Tavla”. The advertisement will inform on how to register. The number of places will be limited, and there will normally not be more than three such free guided tours per season.

• Paid guided tours for groups of 10 or more people can be pre-booked by contacting the garden director; see contact information below. Pre-booking should preferably be done at least two weeks before the desired date for the tour.
• The price for groups of 1-10 people is 1000 NOK for a 1-hour tour and 1500 NOK for a 1.5-hour tour. For groups of more than 10 people, the price increases by 100 NOK (1 hour) or 150 NOK (1.5 hours) for each additional participant.
• Maximum group size is 30 people. At the maximum group size, the cost is 3,000 NOK for a 1-hour tour and 3,500 NOK. for a 1.5-hour tour.

Guest parking at the parking lot in front of the Botanic garden. Fees apply 07 - 17. After 5 o'clock parking is free.

Get tickets at the pay station at the parking lot in front of The botanical garden. 

Summer 2026 (June to August), the garden cafeteria is open every day between 11:30 and 15:30. The café offers waffles, various cakes, coffee, tea, and a few kiosk items. The café does not serve hot dishes. Opening hours are weather-dependent. On rainy days, opening hours may be reduced and the café selection limited. On some sunny days, the café will be open a little longer.

For groups of ten or more people who want to sit together to dine, tables can be reserved no later than 48 hours in advance by contacting Jarle W. Bjerke: jarle.w.bjerke@uit.no.

CLOSED NOVEMBER TO APRIL
The garden is an outdoor attraction. During the winter months the plants are in dormancy, and the garden usually covered in snow.
